Paris Dispatch
A charming pied-à-terre-ish hotel in the 1st arr., a food and wine insider’s must list, and a fantastic 1-week, art-centric London-Paris itinerary
One of the reasons I started Yolo was to create a gathering place for all of the great travel ideas I find, research, and hear about. I love when friends, acquaintances, and even Instagram contacts I’ve never met reach out to share their favorite finds and travel intel. When Eric Goldberg, a travel-obsessed friend who I first met ages ago when he was doing travel PR, sent me an email about his incredible stay at the Maison Armance in Paris, I wrote him back immediately to ask if we could just publish the whole thing in our newsletter. Same thing happened with Currie Person, a woman I met in Portland when I visited her shop, Spartan, and who then, the next day, invited me to the most epic lunch at her friend’s winery, Antica Terra. She wrote me the most excited email about her itinerary for a food-and-art focused trip she’d just taken to London and Paris with friends, and I literally wanted to cut and paste it into Substack to share with you guys. Lastly, my friend Jay Strell, a strategic communications consultant in the hospitality/wine & spirits world, is constantly DM’ing me when I’m in France, telling me how I need to check out this place or that. He’s such an insider in the food and wine worlds, and I trust him completely. All three of these contributors are Paris enthusiasts, not locals—but I think that often it’s outsiders who do the most rigorous research and get the most excited about a place! Not that I don’t love deep local intel–it’s just nice to have the perspective of the exuberant visitor who never wants to let a meal or moment go to waste. Voilà! —Y.E.
