Paris Dispatch
Food and art edition: a 2-day gallery-packed itinerary, an art insider turned fixer, a “Costa Meno” food list, and a new-ish hotel to add to your wish list.
There are some places that you/we just can’t get enough of, and Paris is one of them. For today’s post, I’m putting the Yolo Succession plan to the test—I’ve asked my daughter, Clara, to write up her favorite food finds since she’s been living there for four months now. Ever since she started her @clarashangry account, I’ve threatened to make her be a Paris correspondent, and I have to say, after reading the below, a “Costa Meno” (our version of “affordable”) take on the city’s food scene, I’m a proud mom. No, it isn’t going to be the list you refer to for your special night out, but you’ll probably forward it on to the younger travelers in your life, and save it in your Google map for when you don’t want to sit down to another heavy French meal. In addition, a friend from New York, Kira von Eichel, tagged along with her friend Sarah Meister, executive director of The Aperture Foundation, during Paris Photo week, and came back with a fantastic list of galleries (with an emphasis on photography) and places to eat nearby. And another friend tipped us off to Alexandra Weinress, founder of The Seen, Paris, who creates bespoke art experiences around both blue-chip and emerging galleries—don’t miss her recs at the end! But before we hear from them all, I’m overdue to share our finds from our last trip there during Thanksgiving week.
