I am looking to move permanently to the EU, but I am also open to a part time situation. I am considering climate change in looking for a destination, especially considering the heat last year. I am thinking Yolanda and her cohorts who write for Yolo would have great information about moving: destinations that are welcoming to foreigners and perhaps issues they have run up against such as language barriers, visas, moving costs, phone plans, banking etc. There is so much to consider. Thanks for responding!

Hi, loved your article on Bhutan. Would you mind telling me how long your trip was, and roughly how much it cost (excluding flights)

Thanks so much

Hi Stephanie, Libby says her trip was 11 days in country (and a total of 14 days incl. travel from the West Coast). The cost with Namgay was about 6k each (including hotel, transportation in country, all meals, visas, location fees etc). Tx!

Beautiful posts!

Insurance, I always get travel insurance, it costs roughly 10% of your travel expensive up front. I can then rest easy that if something happens I just call an 800 number. I take a picture of my plan then download it onto a USB port which is always on me with all my info., copy of passport, International driver license, health records, important phone number and WhatsApp important numbers for where I am.

That sounds like such a smart strategy! I may share it when I finally tackle the larger question of travel insurance. Thank you! -Alex

I really look forward to these, thank you. Has Yolo ever done any articles on relocation to countries outside the US?

Hi Dana, We haven't specifically, but it's something we've talked about doing, especially since Yolanda lives abroad for part of the year. What in particular would you like us to try to answer?
