Bonjour, toujours un vrai plaisir de vous lire, I can practice my English et j’en profite pour découvrir toujours un peu plus de vous et de vos aventures . Vivre à NYC : a dream !!
Across the pond on the UWS and love being uptown. The proximity to Central Park, classic restaurant/museums and the community of people you feel a part of again is a dream that we get to live everyday.
Loved reading this and congrats on the holy grail of a rent controlled apartment, on the UES no less! Wow! I still mourn the loss of my grandmother's apartment in Peter Cooper Village that we hung onto a for a few years after she passed but ultimately gave up; boohoo!
Thank you for sharing this! I am in just my 3rd year of living in NY and this winter has me feeling a bit disenchanted but this letter just sparked some joy for me!
I really wanted to thank you for the beautiful and happy memories that you have unearthed with this story. I was down there from ‘91-‘95. The area around St. Mark’s Place was my home away from home. Special dinners at Yaffa Café (I still have a book of matches!) dancing in the rain in Tompkins Sq. Park, late nights at The International and too much time spent at Café Sin-é down the street from you.
So thank you again and many new and happy memories for you both.
Their food is uniformly excellent and it's a lovely, cozy space. Yorkville is a great neighborhood in many respects (especially Schurz Park!), but is a bit of a restaurant desert, so we hope Gazette will thrive.
Really enjoyed this piece, so well written. 👍
thank you Mike!!
I really enjoyed this. :) Please write about upstate NY too!
deal!
We lived in NYC for ten years pre kids. I always thought it would be nice to go back again post kids.
Thank you for living out my (Day) dream of one day returning to NYC! Can't wait to hear of your new adventures.

The UES is also cleaner!
Such a great story! It's always great to have a place to really call home!
Congratulations!

Welcome to the UES! If you ever come further east, Gazette on York Ave is a new and wonderful spot for dinner or a glass of wine.
Oh thank you for the rec! I didn't know about it and it looks great!

I look forward to hearing about your adventures in NYC. Please keep in mind residency requirements for a rent controlled apartment.
Do you offer Green Wood Cemetery tour?
